navy civilian jobs

Let me ask you guys a question...I have recently been searching for jobs and a lot of naval civilian jobs have been coming up. They didn't have an experience requirement and they also said that you learn on the job. Does this sound normal or is it a catch to it? it just sounds too good to be true for some reason. Do an of you all have a career like this? if so please tell me how you like it

As far as I knew the Navy (and Marine Corps) are currently outsourced all IT operations under the NMCI contract. EDS (now owned by HP) has the contract along with other big name IT companies (Navy/Marine Corps Intranet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). Those jobs your talking about are most likely for actual Navy jobs. I know they advertise on job sites.

It depends. There are experience requirements, but it depends on the pay grade. If you can find the job series (i.e. is the job a GS-0391 or GS-2210) and paste it into google, you should find something put out by OPM that describes the duties associated with the job series and what duties you can be expected to perform at each grade.

AFAIK, NMCI manages are the standard UNCLAS telecom network (NIPRnet)... the jobs that the OP is referring to might be involved with a joint command, or have something to do with the Navy's IC component.

Can you provide more info on the posting and where you found it? I know a lot of system commands still have government employees in house as well as contractors handling IT.

Well I first seen the posting on my school website via worksource.com. So being my curious self I google navy civilian jobs and it was a website https://chart.donhr.navy.mil/ which listed all of the information technology jobs they had available.
