1. You are going to perform a couple of speed tests in which you will download a large file from a server that is on the local network. To download the file each time, go to http://172.17.234.10 , right-click the file called BIGGERFILE.TXT, choose Save Target As … and save it on your computer. Record how much time it takes to download the file and enter it into Table 2. Calculate the throughput in Mbps.

File size (MB)
File size (Mbits)
Transfer time (seconds)
Throughput (Mbps)

Table 2 NIC configured for 100 Mbps half-duplex

2. Set the network card for Auto-detect. Since the NIC is connected to a 1000Mbps switch, it should automatically set itself at 1000Mbps full-duplex. Download BIGGERFILE and record how much time it takes in the following table. Calculate the throughput in Mbps.

File size (MB)
File size (Mbits)
Transfer time (seconds)
Throughput (Mbps)

Table 3 NIC configured for Auto-detect (1000 Mbps full-duplex)
