HSRP with switches... one link dies

What happens in this scenario?

Circle 1 and 2 are switches, rectangles are servers.

HSRP is running between Switches 1 and 2. Switch 1 is active, switch 2 is standby.

I understand that if switch 1 dies, switch 2 will become active and begin forwarding traffic. What happens if just the link between switch1 and server1 dies? Server1 cannot forward traffic to switch1, and switch2 is currently not passing traffic...

This just popped into my head today, not sure why

This just popped into my head today, not sure why

Switch 2 would send the packet to Switch 1 through it's connection. No ports are blocked by spanning-tree because you dont have a loop.
