FXS/FXO card problem

auosauos Member Posts: 186
Hi,
I have 2801 router with 128/64 memory no PVDM, I buy two VIC-2FXO and VIC-2FXS, but when I plugged in to my router and router starting booting I get below messages: -

Smart Init is enabled
smart init is sizing iomem
ID MEMORY_REQ TYPE
0X003AA110 public buffer pools
0X00211000 public particle pools
0X00020000 Crypto module pools
0X00120000 VPM buffer pools
0X000D 0X00000000 UNKNOWN Card in slot 0
0X000E 0X00000000 UNKNOWN Card in slot 2

0X000021B8 Onboard USB

If any of the above Memory Requirements are
"UNKNOWN", you may be using an unsupported
configuration or there is a software problem and
system operation may be compromised.

And when I try the command (show voice port summ) I got nothing?
What is my problem, is that mean the two card have H/W problem.

You need to install a PVDM so that you have DSP resources to support the VICs.

Yes, the 8 will do the job for hardware that you currently have - You'll probably want to add another (or higher capacity single PVDM) module later for conferencing/transcoding, and or digital voice T1 support. I like the PVDM2-32s myself :)

Many thanks, please correct me if I wrong, if I have 2600xm module and I need to supported as voice router that mean I should have (NM-2V or NM-1V) and also AIM-ATM-VOICE-30 for DSP resource.

    2600 xm.. voice-30 is fine belive it comes with 4 dsp's .

not sure but read the cisco doc carefully on the difference between aim-atm-voice ant aim-voice..

    1. you can certianly assign all channels to One interface with both aim cards.

    2. with ATM_AIM card you can assign more than one interface but i think its limited in some way.. check cisco docs before you buy the AIM.

The NM-1V and NM-2V come with the DSP resources on board the module to support the analog VICs you'd plug into the NM.

One (or two) of the Voice AIMs supposedly give you the ability to run a digital VWIC in a WIC slot.....

I just went with the NM-HDV (Network Module - High Density Voice) to support the VWIC-1MFT-T1 and VWIC-2MFT-T1 cards -- and the 1760 routers, which have VIC slots and support the digital cards without an additional carrier.

The NM-HDV has 5 slots for PVDMs. There are the newer (and more expensive) versions if you have newer (and more expensive) routers. :D

I personally run the AIM-Voice-30 on my 2650XM .. works great.. however, limited or binded to only one VWIC.
