Pls critique my Network+ study regime

Hi Guys,

Below is what I plan to do in order to prepare for the Network+.

If you could make alternative suggestions or additions, that would be fantastic. Thanks! :)

1) Prof Messer videos
2) Mike Meyers' All-in-One + practice exams
3) Mike Meyers' Network+ Passport - espec. "Exam Tips"
4) Buy PrepLogic tests - also consider Transcender
5) MCMSE Network+ Study Guide
6) Comptia official objectives
7) Network stuff already done for A+

9) CompTIA Network+ (N10-004) Cert Guide by Mike Harwood
10) Teach Yourself TCP/IP in 24 Hours by Joe Casad

12) Set up LAN between my home PCs + do as many labs as possible

Especially focus on:

1) The 9 troubleshooting steps
2) Protocols
3) Ports
4) OSI model, incl. functional components of each layer
5) Cable types / lengths / speeds / connectors
6) TCP/IP utilities (Ping, Tracert etc.)
7) VPNs

11) Network topologies (bus, mesh, star etc.)

    It sounds like your gearing up to score a 900/900. I passed my Network+ last week and alls I used was Lammle's Network+ book and www.proprofs.com online resources to study. Granted I didn't get a great score on the exam but I also only spent 46 hours studying for it.

    Pay particular attention to protocols, wireless, firewalls, ports, OSI model.

    Honestly I recommend taking out anything that you're paying for, that you haven't bought already. Between the books, practice exams and videos you should be able to pass this with a great score and not spend additional $ on materials.
    Certifications: A+, Network+, Security+, Server+
    Vendor Certs: Epic Client Systems Management, Epic Client Systems Management w/ Hyperspace Web

    I agree with Shax on this one. Two books(the all-in-one and the passport), the official objectives and Professor Messer's videos would probably be enough.

    Seems to be a little overkill to me.. I would cut down a bit like below:

    Also if you plan to take Security+ next, I would add Darril Gibson's Security+ book to your arsenal. I think its the first 3 chapters you should read, Basic Security and Networking. Then you should do well in the Security domain of the Network+. His book is easy to read and digest.

    Passed Net+ last month with Lammle's book and Messers vids. Now I'm on Ciscopress CCNA library and this is where I amp up the studies.

    Good luck on your Net+ Cert, you can do it!
