Having some difficults identifying the function of an ACL below are a few functions I'm sure of, and below that are some I'm unsure of.
Positive:
- Identifying interesting traffic for DDR
- IP route filtering
Unsure:
- Provide high network availability
- Classify and organizing network traffic

Unsure:

ACLs do nothing for network availability
- Classify and organizing network traffic
In a way ACLs classify traffic, but only in a way where you can choose what to permit or deny. This is more of a security feature then a classification function. -

You can apply acls to class maps, priority lists, and custom queue lists. If you look at it from a QOS perspective you can classify network traffic based on readily identifiable application flows. QOS includes classification, marking, and queueing.
