Cisco 851 W?

In the CBT Nuggets for ICND1, and the guy recommended spending a few hundred dollars on a Cisco 851 W. It is an old video, so that model is probably outdated...and I cant find one for that cost. On amazon they're $600. His argument appealed to me for a home lab, but not for that coin...yet.

I have a Cisco 3600 available to me, but I would like to have one that also had the GUI ability just in case I need to see any of that. I would guess that even networking is going to go GUI one day.

Does anyone know a decent cisco router model that could serve me well down the road that has the newest OS, good ram..and anything i would need if i ever decided to keep going past ccna? I'd be willing to spend at most $200

Thanks

I wouldn't bother getting an 851. There are better ones now.

    aren't compatible.

The 861 (or better) can do 15.1T but you're not going to find either for less than $200. I'd get an 1841 over any of the 8xx series though but again, you're not going to find one for less than $200.

    Cisco 3725.
The latest IOS you can get for a 3725 is 12.4.25d or 12.4.15T14.

Cisco dropped support for several platforms like the 3700s and 2600XMs after 12.4.15T as 12.4T went all the way to 12.4.24T.

Nope, the 3725 is not compatible with 15's but I wasn't reading into what he was saying about the newest IOS. Anything 12.4 for the ccna is fine, the 3725 has a few extra's abilities over the 3600 series that makes it better choice for a sub $200 platform for future studies. I just didn't put much effort into a quality response.

Negative on the Sub $200 newest IOS unless you can find a DOA box online that just needs a new fan or something.
