The 70 series exams are going to cost you $60 using Student Certification Exams | Special Offers | Microsoft Certification

You will need a .edu to get the voucher code...I had to call the testing company to use my codes....they didn't work with online registration. The offer expires this summer. You can use it on multiple exams, so icon_study.gif hard while you can get this discount.

    Thank you!

Are the 70 and 72 series the same exams?

Yes they are. I took the 72-291 to finish my MCSA.

It was pretty easy to do, just need to call to set it all up.

Many 70- exams are available as 72- with a discount for students. There is a list on Microsoft's site but I don't have the URL handy. The basic rule is exams that go towards MCTS or lower. In other words, for the MCITP:SA or EA all exams except for the final ones can be got under the discount. Same thing for all MCSA exams are good, but -293 & -294 for the MCSE are full price.

You have to call Prometric directly to schedule. Just ask to schedule a student or academic exam and use the same exam number with a 72- prefix instead of 70-. Once you have the exam scheduled via the phone it is fully changeable on the website.

No, just a student ID. When you register for the exam by phone, they will usually ask for it.

The discounted exams for students have the 72 prefix. The 73 prefix exams are for students in Microsoft IT Academy programs.

My school system does. My A+ vouchers cost $74 each when I took the exam. Your school needs to be a CompTIA education partner or something like that....can't remember what it is exactly. The CompTIA education voucher codes begin with "JK-". You'd need to get these voucher codes usually from a faculty member at your school (whoever runs the program). You then use the voucher code when you sign up for your exam.

Anyone aware of Cisco student discounts?

EDIT: Most of what I have seen are discounts for Cisco Networking Academy students that get a passing score on their final exam in the course. I am looking for something more generic. I have the four CCSP exams on my plate within the next two months, and then I plan on doing the new exams after that.

I... I did not need any call ins or .edu address, albeit I go to a Technical College. No idea what the rest of you are talking about; filled in form, got emailed, went to test center, took the exam.

Your school is a J2C member. Any school that offers a course that is geared for a certification that CompTIA offers is elligible. (It doesn't even need to be a test prep class. If your school has a hardware/software class, you can argue that it is A+ prep).

You will have to just get with your administration and get them to pay the $800 or $900 yearly fee for the membership. (Which is hard to justify to a school to pay, but every student that takes the A+ is saving something like $178.)

Once your school is a member, speak with the program administrator at your school and they can get you the voucher code, and then you can take that and register for your test. I'm not sure if prometric allows it or not, but any Vue test center can take that voucher.
Decide what to be and go be it.

That link provided above is no good for exam series with prefix 070, It is only good for exams with prefix 072. It says it right their in the finer print; I just tried to register using this promo and is does not work for exams with the prefix 70.

The links are for the student series exams (72-xxx) which are the same exams as the standard (70-xxx).

Does anyone know if there is a 72-647 MCITP EA exam? I know it's not on the list at Prometric, but maybe it was not listed on accident, I could only hope.

That's a "high-end" Professional test. The assumption is that someone going for that certification is beyond the student years.

You can always call up Prometric and try for it. It was never on the old list from Microsoft.

Clicking on your hyperlink, I see there's a MCITP: Enterprise Support Technician which is the 7x-620 and the 7x-622 and then there's an Enterprise Desktop Support Technician 7 which is the 7x-680 and the 7x-685.

I guess because MS made that distinction, I would guess that you can't mix and match; you either go for the EDST 7 or the EST for Vista.

This then begs the question, when the heck will the Vista exam be retired? I hear the Vista was a joke anyway compared to W7.
