How long should I wait?

One employer that I spoke with emailed me asking for my resume a few days a go. How long should I wait and what should I say to the employer to follow up with where I stand?

    Hi Buddy
    I would suggest that you wait for around 3 days, and again email him asking about his intention and time frame. If he replies, it is okay then you know. If he does not replies, then wait for 7 days and contact him no further.
