Last Minute Tips ICND1?

Good morning, I am in the final preparations for my CCENT exam, and I would like to get some tips on last minute studies.

I have already postponed my exam once, but I am currently pending for next Monday May 9th.

I am too the point to where all the study material I look at is so redundant and drab I am sick of seeing it. I guess it would be easy to get tired of seeing the same thing after 4 months of studying..

With Subnetting, I can pretty much figure anything out, and I can do it quickly as long as I have my little **** charts wrote out.

With General CCENT knowledge questions I can pretty much get everything right. I fill confident in that area.

With labs I find them annoying especially on troubleshooting labs, for there are so many ways to approach a broken network, so I find them a bit aggravating under a time limit. I can get the labs done they just stress me out because I am and will always be a worrier and a double checker. I find that double/tripple and some times quadruple checking my configs is where I have waisted a lot of time. I just get irritated how on labs I cant have to telnet sessions side by side, so going back and forth just kills me, but I understand thats part of it lol

I have been taking practice exams a lot, for I felt that is what instilled the most confidence in me when it came to my CompTIA certs, but the CCENT is no CompTIA..

I have been doing my Boson exam in 20 question blocks which I do pass, but sometimes the shear odd wording of the Boson exam gets me.

I am also subscribed to a few "unmentionable" exam sites which I do well with also.

I also find that some of these questions ask about stuff that I have not studied yet due to the material not being in any CCENT book I have read, and that kinda wierds me out..

I just need some advice, I am too the point to where I do not know what else to study as in there is not really anything else for me to learn under the CCENT umbrella I just need some advice on refining everything.

I think you should keep studying the material and I suggest that you focus more on subnetting if you need the little **** chart that you have so you can work without it.

I think its okay to double check things during the test but remember its timed and you have simulations that take up more time than regular questions.

Best advise: Relax.

Seem you are pretty good prepared. Learn to subnet using no cheats or with an empty sheet of paper where you draw your **** table from memory.

And be sure to practice show commands the way that you are able to figure out what a device is currently (not) doing.

Relax that is what my wife said. She said I had " Over-Studied " I was like NOT POSSIBLE lol

Nonetheless, yes I do need my **** sheet, and practicing writing it out is a great idea. Doing math in my head has never been a strong point for me ever since I can remember.

Agreed. Once you start taking the test answere questions the best you can and move on. Don't overthink questions and eat up all your time.

Know your show commands (such as show cdp neighbors) and be able to tell what devices are plugged into your local device using this command. Know static and RIP routing. Know interface troubleshooting such as an encapsulation mismatch and how to fix it. Study wireless and know the different speeds and frequencies for each 802.11 specification. Remember that wireless uses CSMA CA (collision avoidance) and ethernet uses CSMA CD (collision detection). Know your port numbers and if they are TCP or UDP. Know the OSI model and what operates at each model. Know how to tell the difference between a TCP and UDP header. Practice with some of the exam questions on this site and any others you can find. If you are doing well on the Boson exam then you should have no problems on the real exam. Good luck!

if ur subnetting skills are good then it is very easy exam to crack

Best thing to do is to is practise subnetting till you can do it in your head in 20 seconds or less.

There you can find a lot of time you need fpr the simulations!

whilst everyone says you must know subnetting inside out.. i wont totally agree with that. as long as you can work a subnetting problem out in a minute or so you will be fine.

as AD227529 said. id focus on that kinda stuff. and definitely know the logic of how a switch thinks and the osi model

Well I do feel better, I did a simulated test last night with a time limit, and I passed it with no problems. The test was also questions I had never seen.
