Microsoft Office Certs....
Hey guys,
The boss hinted he might want to find if there are some technical certifications for our entry level staff in the Microsoft office suite. Specifically Microsoft Outlook. I noticed there are certs on Outlook and just wondered if they had any value at all in terms of training up interns and junior level staff.
Input?
Had anyone gone through the certificaiotn process for an Office suite? Was it similar to a normal MCP cert?
Thanks,

Lynda.com Outlook 2010 is 3 hrs training and CBT Nuggets Outlook 2007 training is 6 hours, so there is a huge difference in the lenght of training (albeit different versions). I recently went through the Lynda Outlook 2010 training and found it to be fairly straightforward, but it didn't cover how it was linked up with Exchange very well though.
Personally I would skip the certification as I think the value of Microsoft Office certs is nowhere near the value of a MCP. Knowing how to use it would probably be enough. -

But then again, I don't work with training end users. Typically, if an employee calls our helpdesk asking how to create a style or something, we tell them they need to talk to their manager about getting trained.
These are considered business certifications for a reason, they are targeted for people working in the business and not for IT.Decide what to be and go be it. -

Exactly. If your job literally depends on it, OK...otherwise, I wouldn't bother.WGU B.S.IT - 9/1/2015 >>> ???
