SSCP - March 12

So I am booked to take the SSCP in March. For those of you who have taken the exam, do you think the CBK is enough? I am planning to use the new one when it comes out, the network security Bible and possibly the CISSP CBK as well. I might pick up trancender for the exam and of course do some labs. Anyone think that I will need anything else?

Oh and also has anyone had any luck with getting ISC2 to sponsor them? I don't know anyone with any ISC2 certs in my area so I will have to ask them to sponsor me.

So according to the author, if you don't have your GSE or CCIE your certifications are pretty worthless?

Having a certification (any certification) doesn't make you an expert. Heck, passing your state bar exam doesn't make you a legal expert. Becoming an "expert" requires years of hands on, extremely concentrated experience. I think that is one "positive" in regards to the CISSP - you do have a requirement of documenting 5 plus years in 2 out of the 10 domains.

Not if you are an "associate of CISSP". I have seen your resume on linkedin. You have many years of documented experience and have worked your way through a variety of security related positions. IMO you "deserve" to be a CISSP because you have worked in the field for a significant amount of time. I have been in "infosec" for less than a year. For the both of us to hold the same cert would be laughable. I feel like I would be paper certified.

Sigh I think I have to reschedule my test this Saturday, yesterday I fractured/dislocated my ankle and can barely walk. This sucks big time.

Same material is above. Green light. No more d1cking around with this one. I have about 40 days to get 'er done.

I have ultimately come to the same conclusion (even more so after feeling like my hard work over the past 4 years has paid off and i've landed a dedicated security role). No need to overshoot my experience when chasing certs. I'm looking forward to slowing down and really using the certification process to narrow my scope and focus.
