Question: inside local, outside local, inside global, outside global

in CCNA & CCENT
Ok so i have my CCENT scheduled for tomorrow morning. I am just trying to tie up some loose ends.

I'm a little confused by the whole NAT inside local, outside local .....

Is this about right?
  • My PC = Inside Local
  • Router inside interface = Outside Local
  • Router Wan interface = Inside Globe
  • Google web-server = Outside Globe
Anyone have a simple way of explaining it better?

    This is how I think it goes:

    Inside local - private network or inside the network addresses
    Inside global - wan interface of above said network

    outside global - some remote interfaces wan interface
    outside local - private interface of above said network

    Your exam is tomorrow and you need to understand this now?? O_O Also, this wasn't on ICND1 at all. It's on ICND2

    Well i ran into a question about it on a Boson ICND1 exam and i got it wrong. So i was just looking to see if anyone had a good idea's for remembering this concept. Thanks again for your response.

    I had a question like this while taking ICND1 in May...

    ICND1 expects you to know the concepts. ICND2 expects you to know how to configure it

    Inside local address is the private address of the pc/host that's trying to get to the internet.

    Inside Global is the global address assigned to your router. Basically, the address your router uses to communicate on the internet.

    Outside Global is the address of a router or server on the internet.

    Outside Local is the destination host such as a pc on another network somewhere behind a router.
