finish my 2 exams for msce 2003 or upgrade msca to 2008

Hello,

I currently have passed the following exams. 70-350,70-270,70-290,70-291,70-293 and need 70-294 and 70-297 to complete my msce. I was just curious if its still worth it. We are still currently running a 2003 AD but will eventually upgrade to 2008. Just not sure the time frame for that. Im sure i could knockoff both 294 and 297 within 2 months. Just not sure if its really worth it as i could take the msca 2003 upgrade to 2008.

Depends on what your goals are. You could take 1 test and be MCTS. 2 tests and be MCITP:SA. 4 tests and you'd be MCITP:EA. 5 tests and you'd be MCSE and MCITP:EA. I'd go for that last one...

With being that close, I personally would finish it up and then upgrade later. Not to mention that your place of business is using 2003 and the information you learn will apply to 2008 too.

i just ordered my 70-294 book second edition from amazon used for $10. I want to be MCSE and MCITP by the end of this year. Should easily be possible. At my last job i upgraded there domain from 2000 to 2003 and migrated there exchange 5.5 with 90 accounts to 2003 and then 2007. It was a pretty good learning experience. I setup a test environment using Acronis and did system backups of the current domain and exchange and then restored them to a test lab and did everything first there before doing in the production environment.

I started my journey for MCSE 2003 and MCITP last July. You can do it. (That being said, I only needed 290, 291, 293, and 294 to get the MCSE 2003, because I already had MCSE 2000). The key with these exams is experience. Also, there is so much overlap, you should be able to spend a minimal amount of time studying for 294 since you already have the other three core exams under your belt.

do you recommend anymore than the Microsoft book to pass the 294 exam. I know i will setup a virtual network with domain, file-server, exchange for the lab when playing with the tutorials. Plus i can see all configuration at work to.

already on chapter 4 in the book and setup a test AD with 2 windows 2003 machines in vmware. Was able to create a domain, name 1 pc server1 and second server 2. Then made server 1 the domain and added server 2 to it and it showed up in computers under AD. May create a windows xp machine to and also connect it. Pretty easy reading and straight forward with stuff I already know.
