Does anybody know if this exam is still based on the 4.x IDS or if it has been updated for the 5.x IPS?

It seems to me that the 642-531 covers the IDS:
www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/current_exams/642-531.html
(Last Day to Register December 19, 2005)
The new 642-532 exam covers the IPS:
www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/current_exams/642-532.html
(IPS OS v5.0, IDM v5.0, Inline IPS and Promiscuous Mode, Application Policy Enforcement, Meta Event Generator, NM-CIDS)
The specialist cert "IDS Specialist" will also change to the name "IPS Specialist".

I hope this helps!

Sure does, thanks. Looks like I'm going to have to get on the ball quickly since I have been studying for the current VPN, CSIDS, and Secur exams. Ugh.
