Where is the best/cheapest place to get RAM and Flash. I would like to upgrade my 2620XM and one of my 1760s.

What is the max amount a 2620XM and 1760 will take?

Cisco is a good place to find the ram info:

Default Memory Increases for Cisco 2691, 2600XM & 1700 Routers [Cisco 1700 Series Modular Access Routers] - Cisco Systems

2620 will take 128dram and 48 flash. In order to max the ram you have to upgrade the boot rom.

1760 will take 160dram and 64 flash.

I got everything from ebay with no issue.

I mispoke, the 2020xm will take up to 256mb ram with the upgraded bootrom.

You would replace the flash card with a bigger one.

Find the manual for your model on cisco's website, it shows you how to upgrade everything.

If I set up a tftp server on my network is the amount of flash in a device even important? Obviously I'll need enough RAM to run the IOS but I'm not seeing a good reason to upgrade the flash in my systems.

Do you know what version of 1760 you have? There are some that will not support the DRAM upgrade you're looking for. I believe the good ones that can take the upgrade have a black box with a 32 in the middle of it right above the FA0/0 port.

If that's not there you're likely stuck in 12.3 land with me and my bum 1760's

The 2600xm's and the 1760's use the same ram. 2600's use different ram from 2600xm. Some places charge more for 1760 ram.

May need to get an updated bootloader/rom chip to let your 2600xm's get to 256MB ram and 48MB flash.

For the 1760's
Its 160MB ram and 64MB flash depending on model , some older ones have a lower max.

Note some older 1760's will take the full amount of ram even without the black symbol (both of mine).

Have one of mine on 12.4(15)T14 (144MB/32MB) and the other 12.4(9)T ipbase (only 16MB flash , 160MB ram)

How did you verify yours were capable? I know there's a date (Nov 2003?) that they need to have a production date after.

One of mines July 2003 the other May 2002.
Note the one from July 2003 only has 16MB on board as default so can only go to 144MB.

I just stuck it in and tried the 128MB ram

No, if you boot from tftp, then the amount of flash is not relevant.
