What MCITP goes best along with cisco ccna?

Hi all,

I've past my Cisco CCNA certification exam and i want to take a MCITP course now.
Which of the following choices goes best along with CCNA certification:
- MCITP: Server administrator
- MCITP: Enterprise Messaging Administrator 2010

Since it's a free project and i don't have to pay for the course the price is not important at all.
Can you help me please to decide which choice is best for me.

I am planning on going with MCITP:EA after CCNA, CCNA:Sec, WGU BS:IT-S, CEH, CHFI, WGU MS:IAS. Yeah, it's about 18 months away but the plan is there.

I don't see/expect a guy with a CCNA to be a DBA or Developer so I guess the MCITP:SA

I know that i should probably continue with CCNA:SEC, CCVP or CCNP after CCNA certification but i want to take benefit from that offer since it's free.Thank's pamh0329, my true dilema was MCITP:SA or MCITP:EMA.

I was going to say the CCNP. You are almost there you might as well. It brings some heat.

What do you do at work? Are you a jack-of-all-trades server guy, an Exchange specialist, a Networks guy? A cert should complement your experience or get you that next break. Dont do a cert just for the heck of doing it. The EMA is not easy, just so you know.

IMO, in order to implement Exchange and work with it, you'll need some knowledge of DNS, AD, Certificates, IIS...and loads of other things which you will learn from the MCITP: SA

Where are you? (That's kinda important.) You have to (be willing to) go where the jobs are....and those are typically metro areas.

BTW, CCNA goes well with a MCITP:SA and/or MCITP:EA, if you're looking to complement MS technologies. You will want to find a junior position somewhere that will get you in a NOC. Cisco is not something you want to leave idle....it's so easy to forget.

You are right erpadmin and i'm very enthusiastic about cisco, but right now CCNP course is too expensive for me and till i get a job(and money of course) i want to take advantage of that free of charge offer.

What's your end goal? To be a system or network guru?

I dont know much about the MCITP world but I know cisco. Now if its free and you want a higher cisco certs then go for CCNP and CCIE.
CCIE is going to be very expensive due to workbooks, audio, video tutorials, lab time, expensive bootcamps and never ending books.

This is going to be tough.
This is what COULD happen to you like most of IT guy friends that I have.
If you get MCITP, usually, you will get hired as a Server guy on an enterprise. Most of the time, an Enterprise will have their own System/server team separated to their own Network department. Its like a pie. System guys, Network guys, Security department and it goes on. It will be very tough to move to networks if you are exposed to systems since system is your responsibilities. Usually systems or networks will swamped you with their projects.

In my experience, system guys just stay systems and networks stays networks (unless I have to install a network monitoring tool then I have to deal with servers and VM's.)

Does it make sense?

I'd say, without further information, Server Administrator would probably be the best tie in. However if you're looking for the best deal for free training then Enterprise Admin wins because after that you only need to take one more exam to get Server Admin. Keep in mind Enterprise Admin is five exams and if you check around the forum it's no cakewalk.

Anything relating to Exchange will give you a huge boost in employability and pay. When Exchange went to 2007 a lot of the MCSE - Exchange guys fell off because they couldn't handle the mildly more complex interface and using a CLI for many of the important tasks. The exchange tests are also pretty hard, so be prepared.

Yeah my first goal would be to find a job. After that, tailor your certs to what you want to do. Although even if you plan on going networks only a MCITP:SA would be helpful. If only so you know when you need to blame the server guys.
