Guys, This is for people in desktop support role. What are you guys process in managing 1000+ computers?

    You may need to give us a bit more to go on.

    Are you internal helpdek, external helpdesk, MSP?

    My company are managing thousands of desktops for customers using our Kaseya based tools but that did cost us over £160k

    And would this be separate remote sites? All on the same LAN?

    Those are big factors in what kind of management (and how much, to a point) you can do. We have ~15 sites in town via fiber for a "LAN" more or less, so we have the availability, but we still don't do patch/power management.

    We use Novell & ZENworks to deliver apps/bundles/login script, and for inventory.

    Most are instant as soon as the HR manager gets around to it. Ask whoever is trying to run one on you for a time estimate.
