Hi guys,

Can someone help me answer as to what happens when the DHCP server detects that there are conflicting addresses?

Within DHCP, at least with Windows Servers, there's an option that allows it to check for duplicate address (by pinging it) before assigning it to a host.

You can also set conflict detection on windows DHCP servers (& I think you can do it on Cisco's) so they ping the address 3 times first to make sure it's free
