Mike Myers and Tracy Rosenblath say the USB 2.0 speed is 12 Mbps.
I noticed their book dissagrees with your answer. Who's right?

Acording to Webopedia, you are correct. USB 2.0 can support
data transfer up to 480 Mbps. Wow, that's 'Firewire speed'.

    OK,
I took another look at "Passport". I think they were referring to the two
speeds (slow & fast) of USB 1.1, not USB 2.0.

Yep, I'm correct but nevertheless I'm going to rephrase the question, although USB 2.0 is designed to provide data rates up 480 Mb/s, it doesn't do that quite yet. icon_wink.gif Full speed USB devices signal at 12MB/s, low speed at about 1.5 MB/s.

I noticed the link in the explanation of the questions wasn't working anymore, if updated it to the source I used for verification:

    Thanks for your comments oldgearhead.

Yes, it was refering to the two speeds of USB 1.1. At the time the book was written, USB 2.0 was not yet in the market, and was not included in CompTIA's objectives.
    Peace Out!

icon_confused.gif Ok, now I'm a little confused here! I did a report for hardware class on USB 2.0 and FireWire. The USB 1.1 was 12 Mbps and the USB 2.0 was 480 Mbps data transfer. The FireWire (latest) was 800 Mbps depending on the length of the cable and if it was copper or fiber optic. The comparison chart I found was on FireWire and USB 1.1. It lists FireWire at 400 Mbps and USB 1.1 at 12 Mbps. My resources were from pcmag and howstuffworks.

Sounds about right. Have a look here if you want confirmation http://www.apple.com/firewire/
