How come helpdesk pay rates are higher than desktops pay rates.

    Probably because it is a 'painful' job to do for 8 hours a day. Kind of like working in a factory - factory workers get paid well above what a job needs to keep people there.

    Also it can depend on how the Helpdesk is set up. Lately a lot more Help Desk positions could more properly be described as Service Desk positions viewed from an ITIL standpoint. These are set up now to actually own processes from beginning to end and have a greater project management role than they used to, instead of a more historical break / fix / escalate role.

    Also gotta agree, the job is painful to do, and so you need a little extra money to keep people in place icon_wink.gif
