VCP510 exam

Getting ready to sit for the VCP510 exam in a couple of days. Used Mastering VMware vSphere 5, some TrainSignal videos and lots of hands on through work. Hoping to score better than 350 on this exam as I may be teaching some courses at a community college in Fall.
Currently Studying:
VMware Certified Advanced Professional 5 – Data Center Administration (VCAP5-DCA) (Passed)
VMware Certified Advanced Professional 5 – Data Center Design (VCAP5-DCD)

Good luck - I used an Amazon gift card I got for Christmas to pick up Mastering vSphere 5 last week, and I love it. Even though they're not billed as being exam prep material, Scott Lowe's books are usually much better than any official exam guide.

GL! I'll be taking the exam in few weeks. Just finished Scott's book and most of the way through Train Signal.

It's kinda funny when you do a search for Promotion Codes for the VCP510 and get 4 pages of **** sites. One site even offered a discount code for the exam after you paid for a "subscription". Looks like it will be a full price exam this Saturday. icon_sad.gif

Scheduled mine for 16th. Company is footing the bill for the 1st one. Still need to watch 6 more Train videos, read SRM admin guide, and lots of practice exams.

T-minus 20hrs till the exam. Just printed off the Configuration Maximums .pdf and will be studying that up until I walk into the test center. It is only 8 pages but there is a lot of info:
    http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere5/r50/vsphere-50-configuration-maximums.pdf

I think my weakest part will be storage. I don't manage many aspects of it at work since we have a dedicated team. |

I have used the following tools:
    Mastering VMware vSphere 5
    CBT nuggets CRAMNugget for vmware
vSphere Documentation Center <-- lots of good documents here.
    http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere5/r50/vsphere-50-configuration-maximums.pdf
    Home lab
    Test lab at work
    Many hours at B&N.

I'll let you know the results tomorrow.

I didn't get any direct questions on maximums, and would spend those last hours studying other things instead.

    Best of luck icon_smile.gif

Same here. I took the VCP511 beta exam and a configurations maximums document for vSphere 5 wasn't even available to study! YMMV of course.

Looks like I will be revisiting this exam again. Walked out with a 285. Still ranks in the top 5 of hardest exams I've ever taken.

As stated the exam is very difficult. I know where my weaknesses are and will be taking the exam again after I have done some more labs. Probably in 2-3 weeks. I want to get this under my belt before the cutoff date and I'm forced to take a class.

285 is pretty close. Must have missed it by couple questions. You'll get it next time.
