Emailing voice mail as a .wav

TIA568BTIA568B Member Posts: 31 ■■□□□□□□□□
As I "know Cisco" I've been tasked with sorting an issue on with a CUCMBE box, unfortunately my knowledge of VoIP can be summed up by "once setup a UC500", but I would have thought this would be a simple one, but so far it's not.

The call manager box was previously emailing people their voice mail as a .wav file without any issues, now the exchange server that it was previously using has been moved off site, I would have thought it would be a simple case of finding some email settings and changing them to the new server, but I can't find anything other than a hostname for a SMTP server and a hostname for a "smart host", there seems to be nothing at all about authenticating with the mail server.

The CLI seems extremely basic compared to what I'm used to with IOS, but at the same time I can't find anything I actually want and I've spent well over an hour looking through the web interface for anything useful.

Any ideas?

Pretty much its unsupported as of right now. Some clever people have gotten it to work messing around with google apps and so on. Also you have to think about how will MWI be supported since there is no integration between them. Its on the roadmap, possibly soon or possibly out now I'm not sure, but I do know that this is a big turn off for people going hosted.

as people move to unified system you have to think about complete integration how the pieces mix and match. These days in most environments any type of large change like that should have had a network "group" get together and discuss the pro's and con's of a move like this.

8.6 is the newest version and it supports office 365. I'm not sure of all the other hosted options. I just checked it out online so that will be your best bet. But 8.6 requires more CPU/RAM than previous versions and the 8.6 introduces some big changes and a lot of bugs as 7x was very stable, the best since the 4.3 version. So there's your answer.

Thanks for your help and the info :)
As I have only an extremely basic knowledge of UC/VoIP I thought I was just being extremely dense here, I'm slightly reassured that it's not a simple answer although it makes life difficult :)

Back to the drawing board with this one I guess!

I forgot to give you a workaround. You can use Cisco PCA and people can log in and access there voicemail's that way online and I think even download them from there. I don't use it, but you can check that out.
