I'm sure these numbers come from Cisco, but I haven't come across a similar page on Cisco's website. Pretty interesting breakdown if the data is accurate...

    Of course. The CCIE is valuable because the demand is larger than the supply. If the supply out grows the demand CCIEs will be a dime a dozen.

    Well, looking at all the breakdowns... we have almost tripled the number of CCIE's on this side of the pond in 10 years, so it may take quite a while to repeat that.

    Americas total CCIEs

    2000 - 2,557
    2010 - 7,014

    And don't forget that some recruiters complain that all CCIEs aren't created equal. Some are much better than others, for various reasons. Emmanuel Conde (of CCIE Flyer fame) has written about this dilemma a few times on both LinkedIn and on his site.
