the course will begin this saturday. read the course outline and found
their materials (listed below) not as popular as syngress and etc.

Mike Meyers' Certification Passport: A+ (McGraw Hill). These books are
bundled together and available for sale at the first class meeting.

my questions are; should i buy the bundled materials or buy what's

Well, if these are the Required Text, then that's what you should stay with. It won't hurt to get supplemental texts. But, the teacher will build the lessons around these Required Texts. I would stay with those.

    Good luck!

    thanks for your reply!

i'm wondering why the prof. decided to include the mcgraw hill A+ book
as the course is about security+ and the course outline is exactly similar
    to compTIA's security+.

i'll know for sure when the class starts this saturday...

The sec+ book you listed is the same one I used in my college sec+ course. It is lousy for reading, but seems very good for the labs provided. So if you plan on taking the exam I would suggest the exam cram II book, it fill's in what's missing.

the Security+ Exam Cram 2 (Exam Cram SYO-101)
by Kirk Hausman, et al is priced at $14 at amazon. great! i thought
it would cost me an arm and a leg like my course fee. icon_smile.gif

maybe the teacher preferred the said texts mainly because of
labs topics. the course outline listed that the final grade will be calculated
    based on hand-on test/lab ...
