What Terminal Emulator Do You Use?

Hey guys,

Trying to get a good idea on what terminal emulator I should be using with GNS3. I like the look of Secure CRT but don't want to pay the $99 for it. Any other cheap / free ones you might suggest?

For CCNP/CCIE you'll be accessing labs with many devices, so you should prefer one that supports tabs. PuTTY Connection Manager and SecureCRT both fit the bill. I've used/evaluated both and have yet to find a compelling reason to prefer one over the other so take your pick.

If $100 matters to you, PuttyCM is probably the way to go.

if for basic windows puttycm if you can get it to work (mine was working fine for about a year then for no reason just completely stuffed up and couldnt get it to work again- many others have had the same issues) otherwise puttytabs is just as good however gets abit annoying having to open every window up vs puttycm where u can just go "open all"

I use ubuntu with konsole and built a custom script to open all my tabs when i boot up my labs.

Putty is pretty much the standard as far as freeware. SecureCRT is pretty much the standard if you dont mind spending the money. I primarily use SecureCRT but will use Putty also. It really all depends on what features you're looking for and what you get used to.

If you are a student you can get SecureCRT for I believe $20. That's what I did.

I have always used CryptoTerm. I got it as freeware a few years ago.
