"Tier 2 phone support tech. Responsible for phone support with installtion of software and basic network setup."
Ill skip the rest of the drool, but nothing impressive. Now comes the punchline:
REQUIREMENTS:
CCNA or CCNP
MCSE (will not be considered without)
A+, Net+, Sec +

Desired:
four year college degree or higher.

I love ads like this. People find every acronym they can and put them in the simplest of job ads....

-Must have 25 years experience
-Must have CCIE

Starting salary is $24,000 to $27,000 depending on experience.

I have never seen Sec+ in am ad before.

It could of been the HR rep who listed the job ad. They usually don't know one way or the other.

The company I used to work for about a year and a half ago used to list Security+ as a requirement when applying for their firewall security team.

Except for "basic network setup" the job posting may be right. A tier 2 support tech may actually be 3rd level of support. Suppose you work at a large software company, you have field engineers, they call 1st tier support who call 2nd tier.

For that matter it may be a support contract that must be staffed by a person holding an MCSE, CCNA, CCNP... or whatever was listed in the contract.
