Cheapest legit online Masters in IT or IT-Sec? is there Financial aid?

Any recommendations? I don't prefer WGU right now. I did check the BM/online list on this forum . anyone got anything else by anyhow. Do yall take out a loan for masters too or fin aid? thanks.

I believe he is talking about Columbus State University Georgia and Not Columbus University of Louisiana I believe they lost their accreditation.

There's The Open University in the UK, they are an accreditied Univeristy (one of the leading ones in the UK) that specialises in distance learning education. I'm currently doing my post grad studies with them.

However I'm not sure how the costs compare.

I don't want to take a risk because I am planning to do a Ph.D after masters, WGU is good but pretty new

I feel the same way. I may do the WGU MSISA Master's but I'll supplant it with another masters degree from another more reputable university later on, as I don't think the program is recognized or has garnered enough of a reputation for some to not view it as a degree mill, especially if you want to pursue a doctorate, which I may or may not do.

ERPAdmin, Swild and a few others have posted about their Master's pursuits And the reason why they didnt go with WGU. Also, the feedback I've read, doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies (in the experience thread and the one talking about the latest IT Master's program). But it's good for what it is, a way to get a quick degree and possibly a few certs along the way.

I think if you plan on getting your PHD WGU would be a bad move. I am not looking to be a high C level executive. I do plan on adding onto my management role/skills and advancing to upper management (hopefully) (not C level). For me the MBA is the end of the line and I will not go any farther. It's a mini miracle I even signed up for the program, but no regrets since I did. I've had a lot of success with the program and my ability to get assignments completed is becoming faster and faster. More importantly I am filling knowledge gaps that I didn't even know I had. (Supply chain is the exception I am just racing through this as fast as I can).

Either way WGU is not some big time prestigous program but it does train you to learn the advanced business concepts that are required to be a successful business professional in todays market. I find the more courses I take the better off I am. This is a degree that I can grow into. That is something I am excited about.

I recieved my bachelors of science from Missouri State University, straight brick and mortar. It was a good experience, but what I am learning in the MBA program at WGU is just as solid as Missouri State (AACSB).

I did look at Dakota State. They are very cheap and they offer a D.Sc in Information systems which you could do right after. While it's not a Ph.D, it's still a doctorate and from what I read, a very good program for the cost.

What are you implying by that statement? I was under the impression that a Doctorate of Science and a Ph.D are viewed the same in the US.

I haven't heard about the IT masters programs not being good enough for PhDs but I do know the teachers ones are. I've seen a few go through WGU and other less known universities and get into PhD programs.

The degree program I'm in I specifically chose because I am hoping to make it to C-list in the IT context and I am hoping to chain it into higher ranked MBA programs.

I doubt its the cheapest option though.
