Hi All,
Which company's hardware is dominating in "Networking" world?
Cisco OR Microsift??
Bottom line is ... I would like to stay in Networking field, not Software.
So which Certifications would be better to get a decent job --
Cisco certifications OR Microsoft certifications ????
Any advice?
Thanx a lot

I agree. Some companies may use Microsoft, some use Linux, but they both use Cisco routers. Microsoft is aimed at the home users as well as the professional world, but Cisco is aimed for the business world. Go with Cisco. The biggest risk in life is not taking one. -

Here's a suggestion, go http://www.cisco.com then do a search for CCNA. Read what you find about the CCNA certification.
Next, go to http://www.microsoft.com. Do a search for MCSE. Read what it says about them. Then you'll have most of your answer. Then when you've done that, come back and we'll help you with any more specific questions you might have about the two. -

When you speak of Cisco and Microsoft, you're speaking of almost 2 separate things. When it comes to Microsoft, they're more about PC's. Cisco is mostly about routers. I would recommend going after both. Therefore you'll have the computer credentials as well as the router. But if you had to compare the two, Cisco would be best. The biggest risk in life is not taking one. -

You can not compare the two....they are two different areas. I would visit the sites Keatron has suggested. This way you can understand what you are getting yourself into and see if it something that even interests you. Both will take a lot of time and studying.Kenny
