Question about VCAP-DCA exam

EssendonEssendon Member Posts: 4,546 ■■■■■■■■■■
Quick question about this test folks. Do they specifically ask you to configure something using the vMA/vCLI/PowerCLI? Now I know being a command line junkie is cool and all, but I'd like to focus my time and energy to learning the product to the extent needed for the exam. Surely clicking around a few times is going to be quicker than hashing out a command, I hear time management is key on the exam.

Thanks.

I believe you're allowed to use any tool you want, but due to time constraint you're forced to use CLI.

You are scored on the result not the method, but many of the tasks can only be completed using the vMA or an SSH session to the hosts.

I believe you even got access to the official documentation - but yea - you really don't have any time to search for anything substantial

Yupp you are right jibba, I have read blogs of a few folks that have written this test and the docos are there. Maybe useful when you want to see the correct order of doing something, that's about it really.

When you're practicing, make sure you practice with the software versions they're testing with. Not sure if 5.0 & 5.1 have any syntax difference, but 4.1 & 5.0 definitely does. Also there might be difference between SSH vs. vMA. I ran into this in 4.1 regarding jumbo frames.
