My access server in an auto re-boot cycle | any known fix?

inscom.brigadeinscom.brigade Member Posts: 400 ■■■□□□□□□□
I was using my As2509-rj for about a year, and never got around to putting the Access Server IOS on it.
I wanted to get set up with more than 4 VTY lines so I could use the multi tabbed terminal for all 8 off my devices. Plus I had lots of trouble with the clear line commands and just changing from device to device.
Any way upgrading the IOS on our old LAB gear is what we do right!
I followed these directions, I re-read it two times, it went classic to the Tee! I did the reload and now it just keeps rebooting,
(Guess you know what Iam doing for the weekend).

Any known Fix sure would be apprieciated.

Not familiar with that particular access server does it have a Rom Monitor Mode?

If you're consoled into it when it's cycling do you see any messages displayed? That would help potentially narrow down the issue.

it is different from most routers that we work with as far as the IOS and storage of the IOS.

    ROM mon >
    !
    No it does not
    !
it has ">", yes >, thats all just >
    !
if you >? you do get some system commands but most have no function.
    !
ROMMON> must be Router (Boot)# mode, RxBoot mode
    !
I was able to get it to boot it's 2nd partition. (YES) 2nd partition
    !
apparently a second IOS resides in the bootstrap
    !
I am now in that mode 0x141
so at least we have that going for us now.

sounds like fun. you may have a flash problem. In this case I would suggest xmodem over the ios directly to ram so it will boot it then have the router format the flash. upload code again

was able to get this unit back to what I started with, so you will not be having a weekend of, laughs, fun and entertainment here, sorry.
It is very odd I was able to write a complete file c2500-c-l.122-31.bin7,902kb.
It asked to erase the current flash, I confirmed eeeeeee… then it wrote the new IOS.
But then I got that auto reload/reboot endless cycle.

Guess I’ll leave it as is and get some bigger memory sticks and try again.
