    For what type of device? Is it on a windows box or a linux box?

    ipconfig is usually used for windows to check the ip address as well the gateway info of the machine. ipconfig /all

    route print is also used to check the routing table on a windows box.

    This differs from linux as well as other devices.

    Thank you for your prompt reply

    This question is from a prep exam. It says no type of OS. I am originally Linux oriented so chose ROUTE. This is ported into W2K, as you know? Very simple and straight forward to see and set route.

    Auch! icon_cry.gif Right answer is IPCONFIG. Why, why, why? I don't know. Probably, the author takes side with Bill Gates.

    I see a couple of similar cases in that exam. I should better be WINDOZ oriented that I have tried to help.

    With best regards

    Windows 2000 and later = ipconfig
    Windows 98 and earlier = winipcfg
    Linux distros = ifconfig
    Novell = config
