ISM-SRE-300-K9 Can’t load CUE image

pitviperpitviper Member Posts: 1,376 ■■■■■■■□□□
Long story short, I have a re placement ISM-SRE-300-K9 that was shipped out by Cisco TAC under an RMA (original unit failed after 2 days of service!!) – and it’s blank. No big deal, I’ve loaded CUE from scratch before… I can’t get the image to install AT ALL! I’ve double and triple checked everything – tried loading from the boot helper on the unit, tried loading via FTP server from the router, tried multiple servers, routers, and installation file sets and no dice.

Anyone ever run into anything like this?

Errors are:

[From the boot helper on the ISM via TFTP]

ServicesEngine boot-loader> boot helper
Loading tftp://172.22.85.10/cue-installer.ise.8.6.4 ... done.
Verifying ...
Corrupted netboot image detected

[From the Router via FTP server]

Proceed with installation? [no]: yes

Every hear of anything like this? I'm thinking that the RMA replacement is bad too...but I'm hoping that I'm just missing something (fingers crossed). Waiting for a call back from TAC.

I have no idea, but I did find this. Maybe can provide some insight.

Yeah, I went through that one. They do mention the "Corrupted netboot image detected" message. Connectivity is fine - I can ping everything from the ISM module, router, and PC. I even tried to put the files on flash and use the router as the TFTP server. Same thing.

Looks like in my haste I grabbed the wrong install file set. The second time around I grabbed the "ISE" files thinking that they were for the "ISM". The ISM uses the SRE files (the ISE-CUE is integrated in the 1861 ISR). The install started but I fought with this thing enough today - Will finish up tomorrow. :)

Use SSH instead of telnet when you run Boot Helper to tftp the installer

The problem was an incorrect platform image.
