DSSS is one of the initial 802.11 standards for the 2.4Ghz band and operated at 2Mbps -- obsolete icon_confused.gif but might still attach to an 802.11b Access Point.

OFDM is used by 802.16a -- high speed high capacity non-line-of-site wireless broadband. icon_cool.gif

    Correct me if i'm wrong

DSSS is still used with 802.11b , speed at 11Mbps with fallback of 5.5, 2 Mbps

And OFDM used with 802.11G, speed at 54Mbps

Then you have FHSS, speed at 2Mbps, so slow because it keeps hopping frequencies
