CCNP recertification clarification

dazpreussdazpreuss Registered Users Posts: 2 ■□□□□□□□□□
Hello.

I used to have CCNP in 2000 however i have never recertified as i work within the military so certification is not an issue as long as you are able to perform the job.

I am now redoing my CCNP but obviously have had to start from scratch including CCNA.

I have 9 years left within the military and recertified yesterday with my CCNA. I understand that if i take another CCNA,CCDA or CCNP test within 3 years then my 3 year counter on my CCNA restarts. I also understand that CCNP is 3 exams now but what i can't clarify whether all 3 CCNP exams must be completed within the same year in order to actually gain the CCNP qualification furthermore how do you recertify CCNP? If you are to remain at CCNP level do you have to retake all 3 CCNP exams every 3 years or redo one of them?

Thank you very much

Daz

    Frome Cisco about CCNA
CCNA certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass ONE of the following before the certification expiration date:
    • Pass the current ICND2 exam, or
    • Pass the current CCNA exam, or
    • Pass the current CCDA DESGN exam, or
    • Pass any current CCNA Concentration exam (wireless, or security, or voice, or SP Ops), or
    • Pass any current 642-XXX Professional level exam, or
    • Pass any current Cisco Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams or MeetingPlace Specialist exams, Implementing Cisco TelePresence Installations (ITI) exams, Cisco Leading Virtual Classroom Instruction exams, or any 650 online exams), or
    • Pass any current CCIE Written Exam, or
    • Pass the current CCDE Written Exam OR current CCDE Practical Exam, or
    • Pass the Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr) interview AND the CCAr board review to extend lower certifications
    From Cisco about CCNP
Cisco professional level certifications (CCNP, CCNP Wireless, CCDP, CCSP, CCNP Voice, and CCIP) are valid for three years. To recertify, pass ONE of the following before the certification expiration date:
    • Pass any current 642-XXX Professional level exam, or
    • Pass any current CCIE Written Exam,
    • Pass the current CCDE Written Exam, or CCDE Practical Exam, or
    • Pass the Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr) interview AND the CCAr board review to extend lower certifications.
Achieving or recertifying any of the certifications above automatically extends your active Associate and Professional level certification(s) up to the point of expiration of the last certification achieved.
So you need to pass one of the three (route, switch or tshoot) before your CCNA expires, and pass the others before each of the additonal three years are up on each of the CCNP R&S certs you acquire.
