COPY FLASH TFTP (backing up IOS)

hey guys,

I have a 2924 switch and get the following message when tying to back up flash to tftp --my switch address is 172.16.0.1, pc address is 172.16.0.10--- also connected via cons! hyper terminal --any ideas - probably something simple!!

    hello,
    what OS is the tftp server?
    have you checked the R/W permission?
    have you check the tftp port: udp 69 open/closed?
    the More I know, that is more and More I dont know.

    Yep, if we were betting, you'd be the odds on favorite -- what ever that means. You've probably nailed the problem.


    ceejay3001 -- Can you ping? If so, then it probably is a tftp server configuration or permissions problem -- or a firewall issue on the pc. Look at the tftp server configuration options and look for something permissions related to receive files.

    cheers for the help - it seems to be a problem with my pc - i cant ping anything from it -even though i can access the net- cant even ping the default gate way. firewall is off! i can ping the switch from my laptop. the copy worked on my laptop. how can i check and change the ports on my pc.

    hum... can the laptop ping the gateway and access the internet? ping the PC?

    Check the obvious configuration issues on the PC like the default gateway setting.

    If the laptop and PC are both plugged into the switch, what happens when you swap the cables? Does the problem follow the switch port?

    laptop can ping everything, its that the pc cant -- might be a virus- ill check it out.
