A little over a couple of months ago I started a new job in a NOC. It started off as a 3 month contract and the boss has already said he wants to make me permanent when the contract is up.
Every aspect of the system is monitored here. From databases and applications to the network and availability of the sites and applications. Troubleshooting can be very different than what I'm used to. But it's been a great experience so far and I've learned a lot about just monitoring. Here it's not an after thought like it seemed to be in the last place I worked at and they certainly weren't monitoring as extensively as they are here. And troubleshooting has been very different at times than what I'm used to.
So far I'm very happy at my new job. There has been some new experiences and even some learning and doing a couple of new things so far. Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on some more stuff as I go along.
