Hi TechExams,
Just a brief introduction of myself. I am new here and have been studying for the CCENT for about a month now. I am a middle age and changing careers. I have about 2 years experience now in residential voip provisioning. By listening to other people I have found that a cisco cert seems like a solid accomplishment and opens doors.
So, on to my first question: regarding chapter 23 in the Cisco ICND1 cert guide: is the Cisco SDM utility going to be on the CCENT exam? Or any parts of it, DHCP provisioning? PPP encapsulation? If so is there an emulator program to practice the Cisco SDM?

SDM is a possibility. Personally I didn't even look at any resources about the SDM before the exam. How hard can it be?
I'm sure there's a few videos about it - not heard of any emulator to run it though. Possibly GNS3 can be used for it.Lab:
Combination of GNS3 and Cisco equipment if required. -

Howdy.
Don't worry about SDM too much. SDM is being phased out and the test doesn't really test too much on it. Knowing how to get around the interface should be sufficient. There's more testing of the CLI than SDM for the CCENT. ICND2 doesn't bother with GUI, it's all CLI.
Boson Netsim 8 is what I used for the ICND1. It was perfect.In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.

Welcome to the forums! SDM won't be on it much since it's being phased out like Roguetadhg said. Good luck on the test!
