    @Lordy .... why the RHCA?

@ALL, why is it that no one is going for the CCENT and jumping straight to the CCNA?

For me, 2013 is the year of CCNA: Security and any other security certs required by my job. I have a baby on the way so I don't know how many certs I'll actually be pushing for this year. More important than certifications, I'd like to get a different job, preferably working with a lot more Cisco kit.
@ALL, why is it that no one is going for the CCENT and jumping straight to the CCNA?

Because obtaining the CCENT alone is not really worthwhile. CCENT is a stepping stone many employers aren't even aware of; CCNA gets your foot in the door. A lot of people will actually go the CCENT -> CCNA route but CCNA is the real goal, so that's what they list.

Maybe they are, but the final goal is the CCNA
If you're going for CCNA, you dont really have to detail if you're going through the 2 steps path or 1 step path.
But the final goal should always be CCNA (with this cert).
If your final goal is CCENT...err you know...

What gamelad says is also true, CCENT is great but it has low value as "recognized" with employers vs CCNA which is hugely recognized.

In this area of specialty how long does it take for a cert, like the CCENT, to come to an HR managers list of what to look for or what can we do on our part to help make it more recognized?

My certification goals this year include:

    PCIP
One of the following certifications: CEH, GCIH, CCNA

Considering I work full time, am in classes for a MBA full time, and have a 7 month old, I think that's it for me. Also, keep the 4.0 GPA going.

Starting the new year motivated to get some long wanted certifications:
    - MCSA/MCITP:SA Server 2008
    - MCITP Virtualisation Administrator

Time permitting I'd also like to do the upgrade exam for MCSA 2012, but let's see if i can get 5 exams done...

Reason is simple and I guess can be said for a lot of the people here: tired of the current job and REALLY want to move on. Especially since I recently had to go work for a different client of ours, I can safely say that I have not seen a place before where things were so badly organised and office politics reigned supreme.
Currently Studying For: 70-410 Training Guide - Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012
    Goal for 2013: 70-642 (DONE), 70-646 (DONE), 70-410 (studying), 70-411, 70-412

    CCENT

The general consensus is that don't even bother with Network+, just go for CCENT, which is what I will do.

I'm going for the MCITP:EA before it tombstones 7/31. I hope to achieve it before 5/31 since that's the last day for second shots.

I also won the voucher kit for MCSA:2012 from Early Experts so I have 3 free tests to take by December so I guess MCSA:2012. Sadly not via upgrade but hey, it's free!
    I finally started that blog - www.thomgreene.com

This year is really up in the air right now depending on where I start working. If I get a networking job it will be CCNP and CCNP: Security. If I get a Security or Tech Support job then I will do CISA, LPIC, and possibly OSCP if I can afford it. Either way I go, I plan on starting on a Master's program in the Fall which I hope is challenging enough to not allow time for additional certs. If I can get an employer to help pay, I will add in some SANS courses.

I agree that network + the certification is useless. The material is good but the certification is nothing from my limited experiences. ***Others have stated the same thing. I like the idea of you going for the CCENT then you can roll that into the CCNA arguably the best junior certification for an IT professional.

MCSD: Web Applications (one more test)
MCSE: SQL Server 2012 Data Platform

And if I have time, MCSE SharePoint. But that is not very likely.
