Passed VCAP-DCA!

I posted several weeks ago about the problems that I had with the lab environment when I took the VCDA510 test.

http://www.techexams.net/forums/virtualization/78898-pondering-just-waiting-vcap5-dca.html

I just got a response back from the support incident that I opened. I passed anyway!

    Congratulations !!!

What else besides the vmware pdfs did you use to prepare for the exam ? Unlike VCP 4/5 this exam does not have that many outlines/suggestions and targeted guides, or books.

Not trying to post for him, but here's some really good stuff. Basically a very good breakdown of each topic.

    Congrats btw :D

    Thanks guys!

Here are the study guides I used primarily:

    VCAP5-DCA Objectives - The Foglite
    VCAP5-DCA » ValCo Labs

For a deeper dive into selected topics, I used the VMware PDFs and Duncan Epping's blog
    VCAP5-DCA » ValCo Labs

And lots of lab time, installing and deploying ESXi every way possible and getting hands on with as many exam objectives as possible.

I got my official score report back this evening... Got a 315. Barely passed. I'm still shocked that I managed to pass, but I guess I did well enough on the questions that I did get to work on to mitigate the latency issues. I missed 7 or 8 questions, didn't even start on them.

Just sat this today without any study time. Had a voucher that expires on the 31st and I had to get it in. Did you have any questions that seemed to already be complete during your run?

Ok good, so I didn't black out during the exam, complete some questions, then come back to reality. Good to know. I think I spent more time on those questions trying to figure out what was going on than on other questions.

There was just one that I encountered that seemed complete to me, but I didnt have time to really start on some of the questions so there could have been more.

I forgot to do the plan management on the VMware site; I had to confirm my shipping address and consent to the terms of the agreement, so I should be getting my paper soon.

    I'm VCAP-DCA #2222.

    Thanks!

My understanding based on what I've read on VMware's forums is that they are giving VCAP5's a number starting with 2000 for some reason, while the VCAP4's were getting numbers in the single hundreds. So there aren't really 2,222 DCA's out there, it would seem.

When are you going to bang out the VCDX?

He has to take the VCAP-DCD first, before going to VCDX.

Lol... VCDX is a good ways off for me, if ever. I think I need to put in some time in some more complex envirionments, or at least a more varied sampling of environments before feeling qualified to work on VCDX.

Took it on Dec 28 and just got the results last night. Barely passed, but with the time invested, I'm happy.

Congratulations. We both passed with the same score. My number's 2289. I failed the first try, and got a completely different exam the 2nd time. Had bunch of other exams to deal with inbetween tries.
