Switches not transmitting STP packets

The switches won't transmit STP packets to the routers or the computers.

The 2 computers can't ping each other because the destination is 'unreachable'

The network did work before the switches were added,

Please help.

The switches will nott send STP messages between eachother since they are in different LAN segements. As for the PC's not being able to ping eachother; are the routing tables correct?

Did you set the default gateway in Hosts correctly?

And what you mean STP packets???!!! Switches are l2 devices, they only forward frames. Only multi-layer switches with ip routing enabled can process packets.

If he is talking about BPDUs, then thats normal since the 2 switches are into 2 different network segments (doesnt make sense to me that BPDUs arent getting transmitted to computers and routers as he says...). About the pings, since before it was working and now (that you added the switches) arent working, then you should probably assign an ip address in each switch's vlan interface and then add the default gateway.

If you could attach the Packet tracer file or the config files for the Switches, Routers and PC that would help. My guess would be that you have vlan on the switches or you type the wrong IP address.
