stupid question but its bugging me

in CCNA & CCENT
Hi i am in the middle of doing my CCNA course and i have a stupid question but its really bugging me. in a lot of the diagrams it shows 1 router linking to 3-4 other routers. how is that possible when a router usually has 1 Ethernet port? do they mean router to switch then to 3-4 other routers but are just showing it that way to simplify things?

3 x 2600 routers
1 x 3640 router
3 x HP Priliant G3 Servers running linux ubuntu

I think the examples are usually generic models, but from what i have seen in CCNA, most of the generic routers pretend to have 2 serial ports and 2 10/100/1000 ports. -

Yep that usually represents and ethernet segment. That could be a single switch or a large switched network.An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made. -

How long does it usually take to pass a CCNA exam if you just started studying for it? i know it vary between user but estimate?3 x 2950 switches

From what I've seen a 3-5 months seems to be the average. Less for people already knowledgable on the material and more for people completely new to networking.An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made.
