Just trying to increase the positive vibe in TE, I too signed a new contract (
http://www.techexams.net/forums/jobs-degrees/87699-signed-new-contract-today.html )
2 months ago I quit my job after 2 yrs of unix system administration in one of the banks...and I didn't have a job lined up nor was looking for another job. I had little money saved so I thought of travelling and backpacking for a while.
During my notice period and while I was doing hand over , I was contacted
(through Linked In) by a bank in another country for a Unix Administrator position. It's a 6 months contract (renewable), where I'll basically manage a Solaris environment, with a little bit of vmware, storage, and linux. I took it because it's a new country (and I love travelling), and because I could use the money to sponsor my future travels

Moral of the post: this is not the first time I get job offers through Linked in. Work on your profile (without your current employer finding out

) and join groups. The recruiter contacted me through a group called "Unix administration".
