Got an offer!!!

I finally got an offer. Going to be working help desk in a small IT shop for a local homeowners insurance company. I am really excited. I will have a chance to get exposure to many technologies along the way. The company is growing and expanding their IT dept as well so hopefully this will give me a chance to get into a network or systems admin position in the future. I am not sure which way I want to go yet so I hope to be able to use this experience to make that decision and then focus on getting there.
I have worked in more tech support type of roles up to now, but this will be an internal IT gig. It will also double my current salary which is nice.
I don't post here much but I am checking out new threads every day. I have been looking for an opportunity like this for over a year now, and I have had some discouraging points along the way. I have to say thank you to all of the TE community because you all have helped me to stay focused and keep my head up even though you all didn't know it at the time. There is a great community here, and I should now be participating more as I really start working on more certs.
Once again thanks to everyone.

My crime is that of judging people by what they say and think, not what they look like. My crime is that of outsmarting you, something that you will never forgive me for.

Keep your head up. You know your value, one day a potential employer will see it and give you a shot too. I had interviews after interview. They always told me I interviewed well, but didn't have the right type of experience. It was pretty frustrating. One interview gave me a Wonderlic test. He told me that I scored the highest he has ever seen, but still didn't hire me.
This job I was contacted by a recruiter and he submitted my resume. Then they decided that they were going to hold off on hiring for the position for a month. I contacted the recruiter after a month and he said that they still weren't hiring yet. Then out of the blue a couple of months later another recruiter from the same office called me and she submitted me again. Had a phone interview with three people on speaker. I got the feeling that they loved me. Did a face to face two days later. Lasted all of 5 minutes before he asked me what I wanted to make. I told him the number that the recruiter and I had agreed on and he said "I can do better than that" Got a call from the recruiter on the way home with an offer that beat what I asked for by $5k. I told her yes on the spot.
Point of that story is you never know when that opportunity is going to come, but it will come. I learned that IT is a tough nut to crack, but once you are in the only thing that holds you back is you.
I will make the most of this. Hopefully everything is how they told me it was during my interview. If so, then there will be opportunities to move up as my skills increase. If not then I will have the skills and experience that everyone wants after a few years and look elsewhere. I really want to find somewhere to stay and move up though, and this seems like that kind of place.
It is really awesome that you are inspired to keep pushing forward by my story. I only really posted to say thanks to everyone that did the same for me. I didn't even think that someone would read it and get that same inspiration. If you ever get frustrated by your search feel free to send me a PM even if you just need to vent. I know how you feel. Good luck and keep your head up.WGU B.S.IT - Network Design and Management :

This is my plan. Hopefully that next job is in the same place. I don't really want to move around, but I will if need be. This place seems like it is going to have opportunities to move up in the future, but who knows. I will keep my options open.WGU B.S.IT - Network Design and Management :

Optionscygnus21 Member Posts: 49 ■■□□□□□□□□Well my first day is Monday. I am super excited for this opportunity. It is going to be a tough first two weeks though as they want me to start right away and I still have to work my old job. I can work both as the hours don't conflict, but I am going to be exhausted for those two weeks. I will make due though. Thanks again to everyone here for keeping me motivated. You all rock.WGU B.S.IT - Network Design and Management :
