Microsoft Office Specialist Cert

I was curious if this cert means much to anyone. Maybe they'll start getting more popular? I can see how this could be handy as most companys (as ours) uses Office. Sometimes I have to google or mess around to find answers when people ask. Seems like I'd be better off knowing the products inside and out. I looked and there is such a cert but I don't see anyone talking about them.

What's everyone's take on this cert?

Going to slowly study for 290. Baby due in May.

    It's for administrative staff and office workers for the most part. It basically gives you skills needed to get the most out of Microsoft Office products. There are certs for Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, and Outlook.

    I have taken the MOS Word and MOS Excel, on the specialist level, not the masters.

    I got that because I already knew both Word and Excel so it would be two easy certs that an employer could like.

    I have _never_ seen them mentioned in a job ad. That may differ from where you are however. If you're not seing them mentioned in jobs you want, why bother?
    There are plenty of recognized certs to pursue already :)

    The reason you have not seen them listed in job ads is because you're looking for IT jobs. You'll see it more (getting more frequent) for office manager and receptionist type jobs. Not technical jobs.

    There isn't really a "master" level of either of those exams. There is Expert Word, and Expert Excel. If you take both the expert exams, then powerpoint and access core exams you will be given the MOS Master Certification.
