Should I go for MCSA 2008 or MSCA 2012?
Peterm44
Hi Everyone, first post on here. I have just passed the 70-640 exam and was looking at getting the 2008 MCSA by passing the other two exams. From others experience who think that the 2012 MCSA exams would be a better set of exams to look at instead or possibly get both?
Thanks

I would get the 2008 MCSA and then do the 70-417 to upgrade and get the 2012 MCSA.

Thanks for the advice. The worry is working on it for a while then the certification expires sooner

The MCSA 2008 is not expiring. The MCITP: Server Administrator designation is going away and becoming MCSA Server 2008.

2012 Cert is largely worthless at this time. I do enterprise support and the breakdown of cases I've seen in the last say, 3 months:
60% Server 2003 & 2003 R2
35% Server 2008 & 2008 R2
4.7% Server 2000
0.3% Server 2012 (exactly one case)
0.0% NT4/NT 3.5
So if you were to learn any tech, it would be 2003, but 2008 is gaining steam now. At least Server 2012 is more popular than NT4 now. Unless you already have a job and said job requires 2012 certs there is ZERO reason to get them at this point.
