L2-Tunnel for remote phones? (Lab)

I think I need a logical breakdown of the following scenario:

I’m looking to move my CCIE:Voice (err, Collaboration) phones to a room on the 2nd floor (My lab rack resides in the basement). I could just run a single cable and trunk a small switch up there but that would be no fun – I’d like to make it appear as the phones are physically connected to their respective switches.

Looks like an L2-tunnel can pass CDP info and is probably what I’m looking for – What hardware would I need to accomplish this? Any pointers on where I can find good info/examples?

Here is a good Cisco Doc on the L2-tunnel for a 3550. From my experience it is very similar if not the same on a 3650 and 3750. Make sure you get to the bottom where it talks about passing cdp, vtp, stp, and cos information across the tunnel.
