Am I in over my head?

So I've decided to go directly for my CCENT/CCNA as my first (ever) certification. I don't have the A+ and Net+ background, but I still believe that the CCENT will be better in the long run. The only background I have in networking is taking ONE course at a university. Does anyone believe this path is recommended?

You'll be fine. There's no hard and fast rule where you should start. My first cert was the CCNA. In my opinion, the CCENT exams are perfect for someone relatively new to networking- they indoctrinate you into the cisco way, but teach you the fundamentals at the same time, which is good. -

Sure! The CCNA was also my first certification. It's an entry-level exam and requires no prior knowledge or experience.
I also never tackled the A+, as I don't ever plan to build/repair PCs beyond my own! -

I took my first MCP exam at 21 years old
9 years later and I think the count is approaching 20...
MCSE - 7 exams, 7 pass, 2 fail (so 9 total)
MCTS - 2 exams, 2 pass
CCNA - 1 exam, 1 pass
CCNA: Sec - 1 exam, 1 pass
CCNP - 4 exams, 4 pass, 1 fail (5 total)
So that's 18 I've taken. CCIE Written next month................
