Which A + do I need?

Pardon my ignorance, but I was looking for a good practice exam on this site for the A + 801-802 exams. The only ones I saw were for 701 and 702. This brought about some confusion, and I didn't see a topic for this in the stickys.

On a job application, when they ask that you have an A + cert, does this mean every section? Just one, or a certain one?

I thought that 701-702 was one exam and 801-802 was its own exam as well, but it's looking like 701 is one exam, 702 another, then 801 is one and 802 is another. So for me to say I am A + certified, would I have had to pass just one, part 1 and 2 of 700/800, or all 4 of them?

If these are all separate, which one should I focus on? Just try to get 701 and 702, or 801 and 802? I always thought 700s were hardware and 800s were software, so having a 700 cert would be good for a computer repair job, while the 800 cert would be good for a help desk job, which is a job I am shooting for to get my foot in the IT door.

Can anyone break this down for me, I would appreciate it!

The 700 exams are being retired and replaced by the 800 exams. You need to pass both 801 and 802 to be considered A+ certified.

Awesome! This is what I planned on taking anyways, the 801 and 802. Thanks for the clarification.

Are you saying if I took the 701 and 702 and passed them before the end of August, come September I would not be certified anymore due to the 800's being out?

This is from the comptia website..

The previous version of the CompTIA A+ certification, exam codes 220-701 and 220-702, will be available through Aug. 31, 2013 (English and academic versions) or Dec. 31, 2013 (all other language versions). You can take either the two 700 series exams or the two 800 series exams to become CompTIA A+ certified.

I passed the 701/702 exams. After August I still will be A+ certified. After August if someone wants to start studying for the A+, they won't have the choice of whether they want to take the older 701/702 exams or the newer 801/802 exams. They must take the 801/802. But the change doesn't affect people who already are certified.
