I Finally Got an IT Job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m still having trouble believing that I got an IT job!! I have gotten told “NO” so many times, or have been told I didn’t have enough experience for even an entry level role. I want to thank everyone on this forum for any posts, comments, suggestions, links, or gold nuggets of info they may have provided.
Special thanks to magic one for telling about work market
Also, special thanks goes to Irish angel for telling me about technibble
I will be work at an MSP as a 3 month contractor to hire, so it will take some time for me to get used to sitting at a desk. Also, will take some time to get used to working on a smaller team.
When I 'm working it will be a lot nicer to use my brain more than my body!! Moreover, I will get to learn new things and be challenged daily.
At my current job(print shop/I’m a bindery helper), I stand on my feet for 8 hours a day. Sometimes the work is hard and other times it can be pretty easy. However, sitting down is frowned upon, not unless you are an operator.
I’m excited, nervous, and scared at the same time!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s still sinking in that I got an NEW IT job!!!!! I will be giving my 2 week notice tonight at work, since the HR person is on vacation. Hopefully, I can avoid 20,000 questions and drama from other co workers.
So here’s how I got to were I am today:
Picked up some comptia certs:
A, Net+ , and Sec+ and My MTA OS exam---currently studying for the MTA sever exam
Completed my AAS degree in IT
Completed 2 volunteer positions
Volunteered at free geek while studying for my A+
Started doing computer repair jobs at work market
Interned at a computer repair shop for almost one year
Started my own computer repair company and took private clients

My crime is that of judging people by what they say and think, not what they look like. My crime is that of outsmarting you, something that you will never forgive me for.

Congrats for making the escape. I know how you feel because I am waiting for that day too. Let your Co-workers question. Give them the Tech babble and watch their eyes when they hear terms that they don't understand. Have fun with it. -
